‘Burapa’ (accent on the final a) is a Thai variation of a Sanskrit word (pu-ra-bvaa) meaning ‘from the orient’. The main goal of this small family owned business is to source and import to Canada the most unique and high quality products that can be found in Asia.
Harry and Vadi, the owners and operators of Burapa, use the experience gained from their combined 55 years of living and working in Asia to travel and locate creative new products, hidden curiosity shops, and the most highly skilled artists, carpenters, weavers, and tailors.
The result of Harry and Vadi’s passion is a local shop that offers some of the finest and most distinct products that can be found in Asia, from reclaimed teak furniture, small gift items, and silk and pashmina garments to original works of art. Clients often comment on Burapa’s musem-like quality, and derive as much pleasure in discovering creative variations on old themes as they do finding products and curiosities they never before knew existed.
