Night in Old Vienna and St Petersburg
Take your fun gowns and suits out of your closet and come to Ottawa’s most romantic evening of the season! In their first ever event, The Vernini Collective, in association Alpha Art Gallery, presents “An Evening in Old Vienna and St Petersburg”: a unique combination of opera, theatre, and fashion show.
On Friday, March 9th, prepare to be magically transported to Vienna, where the Slavic Students Association are hosting a ball and fashion show. See the battle between our two men, Masetto, multimillionaire startup CEO Massetto, and Giovanni, a young playboy (played by operatic tenor & model Corey Arnold), as they compete for the heart of the beautiful Ania (played by soprano Susan-Elizabeth Brown).
In between scenes, grab a complimentary glass of champagne and enjoy operatic arias and duets, as we present fashion segments highlighting Ottawa’s celebrated Moldovian designer, Cornelia Turcu, as well as designs from Richard Robinson Haute Couture Academy students, and tiaras and diamond-like red carpet zirconia jewelry from Al-Masani Royal Jewelry.
Finally, at the end of the show grab another drink and prepare to dance the night away!
The whole evening will feature pianist and award-winning Canadian composer, Andrew Ager, who will accompany our singers and some of our dancing.
Food and bar open at 6pm, show begins at 7pm. Some seating is available.
Tickets are $30 Until March 6th, and $40 thereafter. NO TICKETS AT THE DOOR.
45 mins show followed by DJ with waltz. Profits from bar sales go to Pellegrini Opera’s production of Madama Butterfly Oct 2018.
The Vernini Collective is a group of young artists passionate about developing the high culture scene in Ottawa. We strive to introduce a diversity of new audiences to high culture events. We hope to see you on March 9th for our first event.
