Corteo, which means "cortege" in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.
The clown pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. Juxtaposing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each of us. The music, by turns lyrical and playful, carries Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality.

"Music at Midday is a series of mixed media works on paper, inspired by the improvised and syncopated sounds of Jazz music.
The images are composed of an assembly of rectangular pieces of paper, laying a rhytmical ground on which to work. Spontaneous, gestural strokes, in a variey of media, move across the paper providing a lively melody rich in colour and form.
Music at Midday reflects a journey through the layers of sound, a pattern of chords and tones to the pulses and rhytms, evoking the energy of life. "
Vivienne Bartlett was born in London, England. She studied art at Brighton and Middlesex universities, specializing in constructed textiles. She was drawn increasingly to painting and has exhibited in London, Brighton and Ottawa where she now lives and works.

The Gordon Harrison Gallery is also organizing a walking tour of the art galleries in the ByWard market. The tour will be held on Saturdays starting at 11 am. The tour will start from our gallery and take art collectors and admirers through 11 galleries. The tour will provide an introduction of each gallery and provide time to explore each gallery.
