CALENDAR OF EVENTS SEPTEMBER 2008

MON SEPT 1
Today is LABOUR DAY and I would like to inform you about our recent and good fortune. The WINE SPECTATOR magazine of New York has awarded Vineyards wine bar bistro, their 20th consecutive award of excellence for having one of the world’s outstanding wine lists. The owners JOHN WOOD, BARBARA MIREAULT, GERRY OATES and the VINEYARDS staff are very proud of this remarkable accomplishment and we would like to THANK YOU, our dear customers for recognizing our commitment to excellence since 1979.

WED SEPT 10
Winner of a DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL in SAN FRANCISCO and a GOLD MEDAL at WORLD SELECTION in BRUSSELS BELGIUM we are honoured to introduce you to CANADA’S FORTY CREEK BARREL SELECT whisky. Absolutely delicious over ice or neat, as you like it, enjoy the aromas of honey, vanilla and apricot as they fuse with the toasty flavours of barrel aging. Canadian Whisky at its very best from Grimsby Ontario. Join us for a taste after 7pm.

WED SEPT 17
Tonight we are featuring PINOT GRIGIO from Montalto vineyards in Sicily. Succulent melon-pear flavours are braced with lip smacking acidity which sets up the palate for our fabulous SHRIMP LINGUINI ALFREDO. Guy Bougie of Select Wine Merchants will be on hand tonight to entice your taste buds with this fabulous combination. Fun begins at 6:30pm.

SAT SEPT 20- OCT 5
The 175th OKTOBERFEST begins today in Germany and all over the world. Here in the Vineyard, we celebrate with German wines, fabulous German beers, such as WELTENBURGER KLOSTER ASAM BOCK and the always famous WEIHENSTEPHANER HEFE WEISSBIER. Enjoy these great beverages with the wurst sausages in town. WEISS WURST to KNAKWURST with delicious SAUERKRAUT in between. WARSTEINER premium will be the draught of choice for OKTOBERFEST 2008. We will also feature the best list of German beers in Ottawa. PROSIT.

Its officially the first day of Autumn and why not celebrate the occasion with a fabulous glass of bubbly’s. I’ve recently purchased some VALDIVIESO BRUT from Chile. SCHLUMBERGER BRUT from Austria and Spain’s own CODORNIU RESERVA RAVENTOS. Enjoy these fabulous sparklers with our complimentary cheese table and the changing seasons. P.S. I also discovered a great little PILLITERI VIDAL ICE WINE. Try a taste of ice wine or sparkling wine for $8.95.
