Berhe Hagos

1958 - 2023 

The ByWard Market family is saddened to learn of the passing of Berhe Hagos. Berhe, a regular character on the Market, sold custom jewellery and other imports for over thirty years. He was a morning routine staple, often with a warm wave and his patterned "What's up, What's up, What's up!" as he welcomed people through the area.

Berhe was also a passionate advocate for his homeland of Ethiopia, often spending downtime between sales writing articles or sharing news and information about Ethiopia's politics, peoples, and places.

Berhe was part of the tradition and now retires to the lore and stories that make the ByWard Market such a unique and storied place.  

Memorial services are still being scheduled by the family and will shared when they are available.
