March Break in Ontario is scheduled for March 11-15, 2024. In contrast, in Quebec, the school break is spread across various times throughout the month. For parents seeking a perfect blend of fun and learning, the ByWard Market district offers something for everyone!

March Break Camps

Richard Robinson Fashion Design Academy (113 Murray St.)

For the fashion-forward, Richard Robinson Fashion School provides a one-of-a-kind experience. The March Break Fashion Camps focus on introducing children to the world of fashion design, sewing, and styling. Participants will not only create their own fashion pieces but also gain insights into the exciting realm of fashion. The fashion school has two March Break camps programs – one for kids aged 8 to 10 years old and another for those 11 to 17 years old. Every project is meticulously designed to ensure that each budding designer departs with a one-of-a-kind masterpiece crafted entirely by them.

Ottawa School of Art (35 George St.)

At Ottawa School of Art, budding artists are encouraged to unleash their imagination and hone their artistic talents. With a diverse range of March Break workshops spanning painting, drawing, and mixed media, kids between the ages of 6 and 17 can express themselves and bring their visions to life under the guidance of experienced instructors. Open Studio

Explore creativity beyond the ByWard Market at the National Gallery of Canada! Join them for a Plasticine Carving workshop daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. between March 2 and 17, 2024. Inspired by the sculptural wonders in the Nick Sikkuark: Humour and Horror exhibition, kids aged four and up can unleash their talents. Don't miss this chance to sculpt, create, and have a blast!

Family Art Adventures

Engage with the collection by observing, conversing, and moving through our exhibits! Try your hand at Art Bingo, explore our Texture Guide to add flair to your drawings, or drop by the Studio and pick your preferred activity! Suitable for ages four and above with adult supervision.

All activities are available in both English and French. Included with admission, it is free for members.

Public Guided Tours

Embark on a journey through the rich art collections of the National Gallery of Canada with a knowledgeable Gallery guide. Uncover the secrets of the iconic architecture and delve into the stories behind must-see works of art. Tours run for 45 minutes and cost $3 in addition to gallery admission fees.

Colour Your World (55 ByWard Market Sq.)

Experience a burst of creativity at the Colour Your World exhibit in Gallery 55, situated on the second floor of the ByWard Market Heritage Hall. Everyone is invited to unleash their artistic flair! Please join us in crafting a vibrant kaleidoscope of colour to share with the public – a celebration of individual expression and collective creativity. Open daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. This is a free event.
