Seeking Board Members with Financial and Legal Expertise
The ByWard Market District Authority is currently seeking to add to our roster of experienced and dynamic individuals to join our Board of Directors.
The Municipal Services Corporation, ByWard Market District Authority, believes diverse perspectives enrich the decision-making processes and contribute to the revitalization efforts of the ByWard District. The Board is specifically looking for interest from candidates with expertise in finance and law to bring their valuable insights to our discussions.
Key responsibilities of our board members include:
● Providing strategic guidance and oversight to executive management.
● Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
● Reviewing financial performance and approving budgets.
● Chairing / Participating in the Finance and Real Estate Committee of the Board
● Identifying and mitigating risks.
● Serving as ambassadors for the organization in the community.
Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:
● Substantial experience in finance, accounting, or related fields.
● Expertise in legal matters, including corporate governance and compliance.
● A track record of leadership and strategic thinking.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● A commitment to our organization's mission and values.
● Bilingualism is considered an asset.
Eligibility
Board members must demonstrate adherence to the following criteria:
● Shall be at least 18 years of age;
● Shall be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
● Shall not be a child, parent, family member, or spouse/partner of an Ottawa City Council member;
● Shall not be an employee of the City of Ottawa, its agencies, or corporations (or their subsidiaries); and
● Members shall not possess a fiduciary interest in any business or property located within the boundary served by the organization or in any company contracted by the organization. This shall not apply to the Chair of the Business Advisory Committee.
