Sharing the ByWord - February 24th

Announcements:

The ByWard Market is open for business!

Come on down to support local business, get some great food, and find local treasures.

Located in the Historic ByWard Market, Gallery 55 offers a unique, central exhibition space in the heart of Ottawa. Home to many unique shops and artisans, the area acts as a popular cultural hub in Ottawa.

Located on the second floor of the market building, the Gallery at 55 ByWard Market Square welcomes the global community by providing a one-of-a-kind opportunity to showcase heritage and culture. Local artists are also welcome to showcase their work by renting out the space.

The Gallery offers 22 individual display panels, bathed in natural light, overlooking the interior market. Join us for a trip around the world, right here, in Ottawa!

The Scaveng-art Hunt Returns on Monday, February 28th!

🎨 The Ottawa Markets team will be hiding art by local artists around the ByWard Market. Keep an eye on our Instagram feed for clues.

🎨 Finders keepers! If you're first to find the hidden art, you get to bring it home.

🎨 Thanks to all the great local artists that have teamed up with us to bring you this initiative. Special thanks to @TRP613 for organizing the event.

Ottawa Markets attended the Farmers Markets Ontario (FMO) Annual General Meeting in Niagara as part of the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Convention!

Happy Black History Month!

Recognizing the disproportionate impact of institutional and systemic racism on BIPOC communities both historically and currently in Canadian agriculture, Marchés d'Ottawa Markets goal is to help remove barriers that prevent Black, Indigenous and People of Colour - farmers, growers, gatherers, hunters and fishers from participating in our markets and accessing clientele in Ottawa.

Marchés d’Ottawa Markets’ BIPOC Farmers’ Initiative (BFI) aims to provide access and support for vendors of Black and Indigenous descent as well as People of Colour including those who identify as trans, disabled, queer, have marginalized religious identities or share lived experiences as first-generation farmers or makers by offering a free seasonal market stand at this seasons’ markets.
