Ottawa Markets is seeking up to two candidates to support the upcoming market season. Do you love markets and working with small and local businesses? Do you like working outside and with the public? Then this position might be right for you!
The Team Lead will work with the Markets Management Team and market assistants in the operation and promotion of its two outdoor markets at ByWard and Parkdale. Hours are 40 hours per week from May to October with training in April.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Customer Service and Tourism information
Assists with vendors placement, attendance, billing & support throughout market day
Market cleanliness and protocol enforcement
First Aid and emergency support
Clerical support, records keeping
Supervising and supporting seasonal market assistants
Other duties as assigned by Markets Management
Summary of Qualifications
Experience / interest working in a customer facing environment
Experience with a POS / Quickbooks
First Aid / CPR Certificate
Able to take initiative and to demonstrate good judgment in stressful situations
Willingness to learn market policies and procedures and assist in enforcing them
Looking for diverse candidates that can communicate in English, French or both, other languages considered a strong asset
Punctuality and flexibility to work mornings, weekends throughout the summer months including most weekends.
Access to a vehicle for satellite markets an asset.
Experience
Experience with customer service, tourism, retail and or markets are an asset. Strong motivation and a positive attitude are essential.
Salary: $18.50, 40 hours per week, seasonal position
Start Date: Training is scheduled to commence April 18, 2022
