Luciano Pradal
1942-2022
The once ByWard Market winter staple Luciano Pradal has left us. Ottawa Markets was saddened to learn of Luciano’s passing. We will remember him in the area for encouraging passers-by to take a chestnut in a napkin and hold it for warmth. His cart was part of a long tradition he celebrated with Ottawans and visitors from around the World. He would go on to share his stories with us in his book, “Chronicles of an Ottawa Chestnut Lover.”
As Luciano said in a 2011 Ottawa Citizen Article, “Freshly roasted chestnuts ... what do you need more than that in life?”
To Luciano and all the little things that bring us warmth.
