Community Spotlight:

As part of our Community Spotlight, we chatted with Kornel Schneider of Ferme Rêveuse.

Find him year round (even in the Winter) at the Parkdale Market - Saturdays 11:30-1:00.

We asked Kornel the following questions:

When did you start your operation?
We started in 1993.

How did you learn? Who taught you?
I have a diploma in agriculture from my professional education in Switzerland.

What did you produce first?
The first product we produced was milk.

What do you currently specialize in producing?
Pasture based animal production, from milk to chicken to eggs, beef, and Ferme Rêveuse Real Veal.

What's the one thing that's surprised you the most about your business?
I've been incredibly impressed with customer loyalty and support.

What's been your proudest moment so far?
Immigrating to canada at the age of 23 as a single man - I was able to buy and operate a dairy farm that young age.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in your industry?
Think LONG term, and be prepared to WORK!
